 At first, we were apprehensive about getting a Doula, but thank goodness we were able to get out of our own way and chose to go with our Doula, Brittany, it was the best decision that we could've made. Brittany outlined the decisions that we may have to make during the labor and birthing process and helped us develop our birth preferences, highlighting what was most important to us.

During labor, she was there every step of the way, from easing the pain of my contractions to assisting with the birth itself. Immediately after our baby boy was born, she helped us ensure that our birth preferences were met, including hand expressing our babies first meal versus allowing the nurses to turn to formula right away. She stayed until we felt comfortable and settled in our post-partum room, and provided excellent communication both before, during, and after having our baby.

Not only would I recommend making a Doula a part of your journey, but I would specifically recommend Brittany, as she went above and beyond and made us feel extremely comfortable the entire time. To have Brittany as part of the best day of our lives was invaluable, and we cannot thank her enough!

 I was privileged enough to be invited to the birth of our first grandchild! Then lucky enough to have Brittany from Birth Day Doula present for this beautiful miracle! I witnessed a lovely young lady support my daughter during some challenging moments like she had been her friend for years!

The amount of love and support she was able to provide along with tips, was truly appreciated!
Surprisingly Brittany supported myself and she wasn’t even aware of that, I went to the cafeteria alone and was feeling very emotional (excited/scared) and she came down and asked if she could join me. I was so happy to have her company and had the best time getting to know this lovely girl that was to going to share this very special moment with our family.

“I have used a doula for the birth of all four of my children and highly recommend a doula.  They are an extra set of hands, eyes and ears who have the expertise in knowing what is happening, what to do and how to do it.  Their job is to help support, offer suggestions, and generally just be there for whatever support is needed.  She is the expert.  My husband just wanted to take my pain away and when he couldn’t, he was stressed.  He was so concerned about me, he forgot everything he had learned in birthing classes.  The doula was his partner, too, and would make suggestions to him to make to me.   Try standing, try the shower, move here, breath this way. 

From my perspective, a doula is an essential part of the birthing experience.  From my husband’s perspective, a doula is essential.  A doula is a win – win!”
